A person pot orzo with tomato sauce & calamari

Elements

  • 2-3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3-4 garlic cloves minced
  • 400g chopped tomatoes in tin
  • ½ cup basil leaves chopped
  • 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon carob syrup or agave + ½ tablespoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 250g medium full wheat orzo
  • 1kg calamari rings ( 500gr chopped in 3 cm parts and 500gr in rings)
  • Salt pepper
  • 2 cups sizzling h2o

Toppings

  • 2-3 tablespoons basil leaves
  • 1 tablespoon oregano
  • 3-4 tablespoons olive oil

Directions

  1. Warmth the olive oil in a large cooking pot about medium-significant warmth.
  2. Add the minced garlic and cook dinner for a moment stirring with a wood spoon. Insert the chopped tomatoes from the tin and stir. Insert 50 % of the chopped basil, vinegar, carob, honey, onion powder & stir.
  3. Include calamari parts and rings, stir and cook dinner for 2-3 minutes.
  4. Decrease warmth to medium. Stir in the orzo and cook for a moment, stirring often.
  5. Pour in the hot water very little by minimal stirring regularly with a wood spoon. The orzo will take in it swiftly. It takes about 15 minutes for the orzo to prepare dinner this way and turn out to be al dente. Not too smooth when you chunk it. Add the rest of the chopped basil leaves.
  6. So, when you have stirred in all the water and the orzo has cooked to al dente, choose the pot off the warmth and permit stand for a handful of minutes. The extra orzo sits the far more it absorbs the sauce so you should not worry if the sauce won’t look as thick. It will get there even if it really is removed from the warmth.
  7. Provide orzo with plenty of freshly ground pepper, drizzle with olive oil on leading with basil leaves.
